Pep Guardiola’s men have won the competition four times in a row this season and will be the first to face their League One opponents
Manchester City have selected third division club Wycombe to oppose the Carabao Cup in the third round to win the competition for the fifth time in a row.
Pep Guardiola’s men have a more favorable draw, at least on paper, than rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, who each have to face a top team.
The third round will take place at the end of September, with the official dates for each game still to be announced.
Carabao Cup draw for the third round
While Manchester City face Wycombe, Liverpool face Norwich City, Manchester United face West Ham and Chelsea face Aston Villa.
Arsenal, who played in the second round of the competition, face Wimbledon on Wednesday after beating West Brom 6-0 while Tottenham get Wolves.
Man City’s recent success in competition
Manchester City have beaten Tottenham, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final for the past four seasons, adding to their trophies in the process.
Last year they also secured the Premier League title, but lagged behind in the FA Cup and Champions League.
