Mac Jones joins Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa as the Alabama star’s third former quarterback to kick off NFL Week 1.
After winning the New England Patriots job, Mac Jones joins Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa as the third former quarterback for the Alabama soccer star who leads his team out of the tunnel in NFL Week 1.
Jones will make his first NFL home start against Tagovailoas Miami Dolphins on September 12th. Tagovailoa enters the 2021 campaign as the starter of the Dolphins, as does Hurts with the Philadelphia Eagles. While this must make their former Alabama head coach Nick Saban so proud, it’s even crazier that Hurts, Jones, and Tagovailoa were all in the same Crimson Tide quarterback room.
Delight in this glorious picture of the sacred Tuscaloosa triumvirate from college days.
Mac Jones becomes third Alabama Football Star quarterback to kick off NFL week 1
Perhaps the strangest thing about Jones getting started in New England is that the Patriots are now undoubtedly his team. You just released former NFL MVP Cam Newton. While Hurts and Tagovailoa are the starters for their respective teams, for Hurts this feels like a year-long trial run in Philadelphia. As for Tagovailoa, 2021 is a massive year of evidence for the left.
When it comes to who will have the most success this year, it will likely be either Jones or Tagovailoa simply because of the teams they play on. Philadelphia projects as a team of the bottom four in the NFL. While Miami and New England are not preferred to win the AFC East this season, it wouldn’t be the least bit shocking if either the Dolphins or the Patriots made the playoffs.
Having three Alabama quarterbacks starting week 1 is almost as cool as three in Canton.
