Luka Doncic Out Till Subsequent Week With Persistent Ankle Soreness

All-NBA point guard Luka Doncic is expected to be sidelined until at least next week while he recovers from an ankle injury, coach Jason Kidd announced on Wednesday.

Doncic will stay in Dallas while being treated for persistent left ankle pain that has caused him to miss the last three games a day Marc Stein. Doncic had been getting on and off the Dallas lineup with a sprained ankle and knee that he first sustained on November 15. The Mavs will play against the Timberwolves in Minnesota on Sunday. Doncic also missed a game on December 4th

Doncic has been tied since he sprained his left ankle on Nov. 15, which forced him to miss the next three games before returning. The pain persisted, however, and even forced him out of the Mavs competition against the Grizzlies in early December to spare his ankle.

Doncic leads the team this season with 25.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game, and no other Mavericks player averages more than 20 points. Dallas is 2-4 in the games he missed. While Doncic is out, Jalen Brunson is expected to take over the duties of the launch guard. Brunson averages a career high of 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game with 49.7 percent shooting out of the field.
