Ex-world champion Luis Collazo wants to end his career with a bang.
The 40-year-old veteran returns to the ring Saturday night when he faces undefeated rising welterweight contender Eimantas Stanionis.
Their fight will hit the headlines on a PBC on FOX card from The Armory in Minneapolis.
Collazo comes after the technical defeat against Kudratillo Abdukakhorov – which happened almost two years ago, in October 2019.
Win, lose or tie, Collazo plans to retire this weekend.
Stanionis, who celebrated a decisive win over Thomas Dulorme in April, will seek to secure a formidable win over the most experienced opponent of his career.
“I can hardly wait for Saturday evening. It’s been a long road and I just want to get back in the ring and do what I do best on fight night, “said Collazo.
“This will be my last fight on Saturday night. The sport is overwhelming in many ways and sometimes it can be hard to enjoy. Still, I’ll bring everything I have with me on Saturday. I will leave my mark again.
“Right now the only thing he has about me is age. However, age doesn’t matter if you struggle and stick to the gym like I do. I live with that. I’ve been consistent and there are no excuses in this fight.
“You can’t really compare one fighter to another. It doesn’t matter if they have similar styles. You must do your best to prepare for each man. As soon as this bell rings, everything can change very quickly. “
