Scotland and Edinburgh second in line Lewis Carmichael retired from the sport on the age of 26 after “a sequence of concussions in a brief time frame”.
The Lock striker made 47 appearances in Edinburgh over 5 years and gained two caps for Scotland in 2018.
Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill described Carmichael as “an excellent man” who “gave so much” to the membership.
“I’m clearly disenchanted that I’ll not play skilled rugby,” mentioned Carmichael on the Edinburgh web site.
“However I do know it’s the proper choice to debate my scenario with quite a few specialists and the medical groups at each Edinburgh Rugby and Scottish Rugby.
“I made the choice to retire after receiving recommendation from my medical advisors after struggling a sequence of concussions in a brief time frame.”
