Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp provided fitness updates on a trio of Reds stars tonight before the club’s season opener quickly draws nearer.
Klopp and Co. are of course in the process of intensifying their preparations for the 2021/22 campaign.
Having surrendered their Premier League crown to Manchester City in an overall disappointing way last time, the Merseysiders will no doubt wait for the new term to begin in a couple of weeks.
However, those involved in Liverpool will also have a much-needed windfall in their sights this time around.
This is because the Reds’ plans were completely derailed last season by an honestly breathtaking disaster on the staff front.
Players like Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara had to sit out for a long time due to injury problems.
Alisson updates and more
Again, it came as no surprise when the Liverpool boss was dragged onto the Reds staff messages on his last exchange with the club’s official website tonight.
The likes of van Dijk and Gomez are known for getting closer and closer to full fitness in just under two weeks ahead of the Premier League season opener against Norwich City.
On Sunday, however, Klopp was pushed onto the trio of Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, all of whom competed for Brazil in the Copa America this summer.
“I saw you this morning, but I said only a few words because you were still on vacation”the German explained.
“They had to take the lactate test yesterday because they had to walk anyway. That’s the way it is. You will start the right training with us tomorrow. ‘
When asked if his Selecao stars will be given enough time to regain fitness before the Norwich game, Klopp continued:
“No, you never have enough time. The players who play international football never have enough time, they always have. This year was the best year, but you never have enough time. You never have enough time to train and that sort of thing – ???? a week, two weeks before the season.
So the Brazilians now, two weeks. I think last year, if I’m 100 percent right, it was 10 days for the first game. But nobody hears that, nobody cares. We just keep going and everyone expects perfectly coordinated soccer teams in the end. ‘
“The good thing is, you don’t lose much in three weeks of vacation”, The Liverpool coach closed.
‘You don’t have three weeks without training ???? I also say that every year. But after 10 days they start training again, just not soccer with us. So they are fit, they don’t lose much and we can use them in the games pretty quickly. That’s why we planned it that way. Maybe we can already include them in our two 60-minute games against Bologna on Thursday, I don’t know yet. maybe 15, 20, 30 minutes. We have to see what exactly they look like. ‘
🔻 We look forward to the games on Thursday 👊
