Joel Kiviranta signed a two-year deal for $ 2.1 million with the Dallas Stars on Saturday. It has an average annual value of $ 1.05 million.

The 25-year-old forward was a restricted free agent.

Kiviranta scored 11 points (six goals, five assists) and was limited to 26 games last season due to a lower body injury.

“Joel has become a very reliable player who can fill various roles throughout the line-up,” said Jim Nill, Stars general manager. “His competitiveness and his ability to play in all situations made him an important part of our group of strikers.”

Signed as a free agent by Dallas on May 31, 2019, Kiviranta has 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 37 regular season games and six points (five goals, one assist) in 14 Stanley Cup playoff games.

Kiviranta scored a hat trick, including winning the game in overtime in Game 7 of the second round of the Western Conference against the Colorado Avalanche in 2020. He scored a goal in the Stanley Cup Final that the Stars lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six Games.
