The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and undefeated Cuban bantamweight sensation, Joahnys Argilagos (7-0, 3 KOs) hits the Collazo “undercard on Saturday 7th, held by The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Argilagos, led by Jesse Rodriguez, comments on his upcoming fight, training camp, bouts in the states, and more.
On his upcoming matchup with Jose Flores Chanez:
“My opponent is very tough, he fought Michael Conlan who is a very famous fighter and celebrated amateur boxer and my goal will be to stop him early. Chanez is a fighter who has a lot more professional experience than me, so I have to be very careful. He’s the guy who sneaks up on you if you overlook him, so I’m prepared for whatever little tricks he has up my sleeve. “
About his most recent training session at the Las Vegas camp:
“This camp was great, I’ve worked with a lot of world champions and every day I pushed myself to get better every day. I had a fight last month and went straight back to the gym thinking of fighting again as fast as possible and it paid off. “
About his relationship with coach Pedro Roque:
“My coach Pedro Roque is a very good coach and many know him, he wants the best for me and from me. It’s not always fun, but I get pushed at the gym and I know I’ll always be in my best shape. Trainer Roque has tremendous knowledge of the sport and I listen carefully when he gives directions. Together we are a great team. “
About the Consistent Struggle in the States:
“Every fighter’s dream is to be able to fight in the United States every other month, especially if I’m from Cuba. I grew up seeing great fighters at the MGM Grand and all these historic locations in Las Vegas and now.” I’m here – training in Las Vegas and preparing to battle with a big card. I’m living my dream and I’m grateful to my manager Jesse Rodriguez for doing an incredible job in my career.
