HOUSTON – After the Astros relinquished the lead in a Grand Slam in the seventh inning, the Astros rallied to play at 10-a-minute Maid Park.

Meyers hit a grounder who wiped out pitcher Joel Payamps and rolled towards the first base line, allowing Bregman to slide home to claim the win. The Astros (75-52) advanced five games before the A’s (70-57) at the top of the American League West.

Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. had made one run – on a homer in the fourth inning of Salvador Perez – before hitting three batters with two outs in the seventh and ending his day after 6 2/3 innings. Cristian Javier then allowed Whit Merrifield a Grand Slam in the first pitch that stunned the crowd and put the Royals 5-3 ahead.

The Astros, in its first game since 16. An RBI single in the eighth by Aledmys Díaz and a two-out pinch hit single in the ninth by Michael Brantley made the game tied.
