Islam Makhachev-Rafael Dos Anjos planned for UFC 267
Up-and-coming lightweight contender Islam Makhachev will return to UFC 267 after a dominant performance at UFC Vegas 31 in which he rear-naked choke Thiago Moises in the fourth round.
The no. The fifth-rate lightweight contender faces No. 7 ranked lightweight Rafael Dos Anjos on UFC 267’s main card, according to a report by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
Makhachev (20-1) and Dos Anjos (30-13) were originally scheduled to fight in October 2020, but Dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from the fight after testing positive for COVID-19.
The fight was then postponed to November 2020, but Makhachev withdrew due to injuries sustained during training.
29-year-old Dagestani was replaced by Paul Felder five days ahead, and when Dos Anjos returned to lightweight he won the fight against Felder by split decision.

Since he suffered a knockout loss to Adriano Martins at UFC 192 in October 2015, Makhachev has been in a winning streak of eight fights.
Dos Anjos, a former UFC lightweight champion, took the plunge into welterweight in 2017.
The 36-year-old Brazilian was successful at 170 pounds and even fought for the interim title against Colby Covington before returning to lightweight against Felder in 2020.
UFC 267 is slated to take place in Abu Dhabi on October 30th.
