The Coventry Blaze have confirmed defender Nathaneal Halbert’s signing for the 2021/22 Elite League season.

The 25-year-old was born in Nottingham, but has played all of his ice hockey in Canada and is therefore not considered a local player under EIHL rules.

Halbert has played seven AHL games in the last two seasons, after four years at McGill University in the USports League. During his school years, he played 68 regular season games, scored three goals and assisted in 16 more.

Head coach Danny Stewart said of his latest signing: “Halbert is a great addition to our backend. He’s very good defensively and another guy who moves well and can play forward.

“He had a good time after university in Laval and although an injury limited his playing time last year, he spent the entire time at Laval and is now in excellent health and ready to start the new season with us.”
