Asante Samuel destroys Bill Belichick on Twitter after the New England Patriots released Cam Newton.

Former New England Patriots star cornerback Asante Samuel hit his former head coach Bill Belichick hard for the release of Cam Newton Tuesday morning.

The quote from the four-time pro bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion tweeted a comment from ESPN’s Louis Riddick that Belichick was “cold blooded.” Samuel’s comment saying that Belichick was cold-blooded was an understatement. Then he said the only reason he won one of those Super Bowls was Tom Brady. Brady just won # 7 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, Mac Jones has emerged as the new franchise quarterback for the Patriots.

Patriots: Asante Samuel tears up Bill Belichick for releasing Cam Newton

Samuel spent his first five NFL seasons in New England, winning two Super Bowls and having his best statistical season in 2007. He received his first of four consecutive Pro Bowl nicks and was named first-team all-pro. Samuel then drove successfully with the Philadelphia Eagles for four years before playing his final two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before retiring.

These days, he probably enjoys being a dad and watching his son of the same name begin his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, when he saw a former NFL MVP like Newton get thrown onto the track, he likely hit a nerve that fine Tuesday. Ultimately, Belichick makes all of his squad moves without emotion. It may be cold blooded, but he’s very consistent.

Newton isn’t the first veteran Belichick to step on the curb, and he won’t be the last.
