The 44-year-old Emelianenko last fought in December 2019, defeating Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by TKO in the first round in the Bellator 237 Main Event. He was defeated on the line with the interim heavyweight belt on his previous appearance by Ryan Bader in the final of the Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix.
Emelianenko has two more fights in his MMA contract with Bellator. The fight with Johnson will be his penultimate unless he decides to step down in Moscow.
