Japan defeat Sweden and advance to the semi-finals
It took the hosts over two hours to beat Sweden as they won the quarter-finals 3-1 and finished in the bottom four of the men’s team event. Tomokazu Harimoto and Koki Niwa secured the early point for the third-placed Japanese by defeating Kristian Karlsson and Anton Kaellberg 3-1 before Mattias Falck equalized for Sweden with a 3-1 win over Jun Mizutani. After beating Darko Jorgic in the fourth round of the men’s singles last week, Harimoto had to prove that he defeated Kaellberg 3-1. Niwa returned and finished the fourth and final single game with his 3-0 against Falck.
