Japan is making Australia easy work to move forward
Japan’s men’s trio Koki Niwa, Jun Mizutani and Tomokazu Harimoto defeated Australia with a clear 3-0 victory and thus reached the quarter-finals. Ranked third, Japan turned out to be too strong for their rivals who are seeded at 16NS. Australians Hu Heming and Yan Xin couldn’t find an answer to Niwa and Mizutani’s speed and aggression in the opening game when they lost 3-0 in 16 minutes. Harimoto, who was shocked in the men’s singles round of 16, returned the favor with a sure 3-0 win over David Powell and increased Japan’s lead to 2-0 after the second game. Mizutani then gave Japan a well-deserved victory and finished the third and final game 3-0.
