The latest speculation circulating in the media this week suggests that disgraced Arsenal man Reiss Nelson is a sought-after man.
The 21-year-old winger Nelson is of course fresh from yet another trying campaign in north London.
After beginning to remind Gunners supporters of his undeniable talents in the final months of the 2019-20 season, it was hoped Nelson would compete again this time around to establish himself as a viable offensive option under Mikel Arteta.
To say that such hopes have failed would be frivolous, however.
Amid competition from players like Nicolas Pepe, Willian and his youth counterparts Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal’s youth product was limited to two paltry Premier League games throughout the season.
In turn, such battles have inevitably led to speculation in the media that Nelson’s stint in the English capital might come to an end this summer, with constant playing time being integral, of course, at such a delicate point in a player’s history.
And if Mikel Arteta and Co. decide in the end to sanction an exit for their young winger, it doesn’t look like they have a shortage of applicants.
As confirmed online on Thursday, Crystal Palace, long considered a potential landing site, remains interested in Nelson’s signature.
The Eagles are considered to be the “front runners” for the wide-man, but with Patrick Vieira and Co. only a loan agreement in mind. Such a move would be made more difficult by the fact that Nelson’s contract with Arsenal expires next summer as things stand.
On Reiss Nelson – As first announced last month, Palace wants him. They are a leader right now and prefer a loan to have a look at. To make matters worse, however, is his contract, which will expire in 2022. Arsenal offered an extension earlier this summer but have not yet agreed on anything.

Palace is far from the only side hoping for a deal for the Gunners’ struggling attacker, however.
According to a report by the German outlet 90PLUS, Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin has also firmly positioned itself in the race for Nelson’s services.
The rulers in the Olympic Stadium were apparently impressed by the performance of the Englishman during his last stay in Germany at Hoffenheim, so that a return to the country cannot be ruled out.
The capital city outfit could meanwhile gazump the offer from Palace, added that Hertha was not against the idea of a permanent contract.
