Claudia Gadelha announced her retirement from MMA

According to UFC straw weight No. 7, Claudia Gadelha has announced her retirement from the sport Damon Martin who confirmed the news with UFC officials on Friday.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise to fans as it is currently in the top 10 of the UFC straw weight division and a fan favorite.

She lost to Yan Xiaonan in 2020, but has not fought since.

She made her MMA debut for Force Fighting Championship 1 on June 5, 2008, where she defeated Elaine Leite over an 18-second arm bar. She won 12 in a row, including her UFC debut on July 13, 2013.

Gadelha once fought for the UFC strawweight title, but lost the fight to Joanna Jędrzejczyk via a Fight of the Night decision.

She recently posted a photo on social media with some great UFC fighters, including champion Rose Namajunas, former champion Holly Holm, and another fan favorite, Michelle Waterson.
