The past few seasons have been getting interesting with Kevin Love in Cleveland. As someone who always seems to be on the trading bloc but never moves, Love just doesn’t fit into the Cavaliers’ timeline.
He turns 33 next week and can’t stay healthy either, having appeared in just 103 games together in the last three NBA seasons.
According to The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd, there were no buyout discussions yet in the off-season. Rather, Cleveland has already spoken to Kevin Love about his role and the other minutes that could be to get off the bench given the young core the team has built.
Love hasn’t made an All-Star team since the 2017/18 season and is coming off the worst year of his career. Last season he averaged just 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
As the off-season progresses, the Love situation could change, but for now it appears to be part of the team’s plans for the 2021/22 season.
