The league has seen a massive injection of funds that will help clubs recover from the economic troubles caused by the coronavirus

After tackling the economic problems caused by the coronavirus, La Liga have secured an incredible € 2.7 billion (£ 2.3 billion / $ 3.2 billion) loan that should pave the way for Barcelona, Lionel Messi’s new one To conclude a contract.

CVC Capital Partners has provided the massive cash injection and will hold a 10 percent stake in a start-up company led by La Liga that will focus on increasing revenues.

Much of the money invested will be distributed to the clubs, with Barcelona and Real Madrid receiving € 280m (£ 238m / US $ 331m) each.

What do clubs get?

Exclusive talk with gatesaid football finance expert Marc Ciria: “90% of the 2.7 billion euros will go to the clubs in the form of a 40-year low-interest loan.”

In addition, Ciria says that “70% of this will be used to invest in infrastructure, 15% to refinance debt and 15% to extend the salary limit.”

Ciria also believe the new cash injection will prove to be a blow to any remaining hopes for a European Super League as Real Madrid and Barcelona recently joined Juve to discuss their ongoing hopes for change in European football.

“[President Javier Tebas] was intelligent and was looking for ways to generate an important economic income for large clubs. They now have less incentive to start a European Super League, “said Ciria.

“This agreement is clearly linked to a desire to inject money into the clubs to improve the competitive balance in La Liga and get closer to the Premier League.”

How is that helping Barca?

Barcelona will receive around € 280 million, of which around € 42 million will be used to raise the salary limit.

This injection will allow the club to register the summer’s four signings and finally confirm their new deal with Messi.

What about Real Madrid?

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will bring in similar numbers that will allow them to add to their own squad.

The club have had strong ties with Kylian Mbappe over the past few months and the cash injection could allow them to plan a move.
