For his part, Cunha has reportedly signed a deal binding him to the Spanish capital until 2026.
Cunha’s strong summer
Cunha stood out during Brazil’s 2020 Olympics, scoring three times and providing another assist in his five appearances for the team. He tended to allegedly support Richarlison in a two-forward formation but fell deep into the “number 10” position to connect midfield and forward line.
The signing of Cunha, another small and skilled attacker, raises questions about the future of Joao Felix, who hasn’t set the stage on fire since moving to Madrid in 2019. The Portuguese striker has scored 19 goals in 76 games, but for the most part played second fiddle behind Luis Suarez, who scored 21 times for Diego Simeone # ‘s side last season.
Cunha joins Rodrigo de Paul as the two big signings for the Spanish side, the pair putting Simeone and Co. back £ 58million. They want to do more business before the window closes, but mostly in the spending department, with Saul Niguez likely attracting interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
