Arsenal dealt double switch blow over Maddison and Martinez

Arsenal are targeting two attackers

In the past few days, rumors of James Maddison and Lautaro Martinez joining from Inter Milan for a possible move to Arsenal have got social media running high.

Reliable Arsenal correspondent Chris Wheatley announced that Arsenal had started negotiations on Maddison while The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on Arsenal’s interest in Martinez.

Both would certainly be welcome additions to The Emirates Stadium, with a first-team starter not having to move to north London this summer despite proposals for a squad overhaul this summer.

Gunners struck a double strike

However, the Gunners hit each of their proposed targets tonight. First, James Maddison has been named to the Leicester City starting XI for the friendly against Villareal, suggesting that a potential deal remains tentative at best.

Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez is ready to stay at Inter this summer as fellow striker Romelu Lukaku has expressed his desire to return to Chelsea on a possible € 120m deal.

The consequence of this deal would be that Inter would no longer have a financial obligation to part with Martinez and would instead likely keep Martinez in order not to lose their two star strikers this summer.

Can Arsenal still make its summer business successful?
