Middle-class Australian batsman Ashton Turner has hailed West Indian daredevil Andre Russell as the best finisher in world cricket right now.
Turner, who was part of the Australian team during their recent tour of the Caribbean, announced that he had a chat with Andre Russell asking how he established the art of quitting games.
Turner announced that Russell told him he was trying to simulate game scenarios during his training sessions
“I got some insight from Andre Russell in the background of the West Indies tour on how he approaches his game. He’s probably the best in the world right now when it comes to finishing innings and he’s another one who only plays T20 cricket, “said Ashton Turner, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“That’s why it’s interesting for me to pick the heads of these guys. He tries to recreate the situations he has in games and to challenge him as far as possible away from the game situations, ”he said.
Ashton Turner, who played the role of finisher for his BBL franchise, is determined to prepare for a similar role for the Australian team and regularly win games for them.
“It’s about being prepared for every situation, and that has proven itself several times in my training. Especially in the Big Bash, my role has changed a bit in the last few years and I keep getting better, ”said Ashton Turner.
“My role is to be ready to beat in the end and win the game for your team. It’s about adapting to and being prepared for as many situations as possible, ”he added.
