While silly season has definitely cooled down, there are still a few things that haven’t been announced for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season.

After a silly season full of several twists and turns in the form of quite a few huge — and many times unexpected — announcements, the driver lineup for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season is all but set.

However, there are still a few details that need to be ironed out before the season begins. Here are three announcements we are waiting for ahead of next year.

Announcements we’re still waiting for: No. 1 – Spire Motorsports

Spire Motorsports entered the 2021 season with three charters, two for their own full-time entries and another one which they leased out to Trackhouse Racing Team for their lone entry.

But they sold two of those three charters to Kaulig Racing, leaving them with just one to run their #7 Chevrolet for Corey LaJoie in 2022. The team also ran the #77 Chevrolet in the 2021 season, so despite parting ways with two of their three charters, they still remained in pursuit of another one.

They were reportedly in talks to buy one from StarCom Racing once they shut down after the 2021 season, but that charter ultimately went to 23XI Racing for the second entry that they announced over the summer.

With Rick Ware Racing having three charters (not including the one that they had used from Richard Petty Motorsports, which has since gone to the newly formed Petty GMS Motorsports) but plans to run only two cars, there are rumors that their third charter will be on the way to Spire Motorsports. But will it be sold or leased out to the team?
